SinceĀ 2014 we started the conversion of our vineyards to the organic farming; our choice to lead organically a vineyard is not a simple replacement of products accepted by the Community regulations to conventional chemical products, but involves a deep focus on soil management, aimed at restoring ecological balance that the use of fertilizers and herbicides have destroyed. Our aim is to recreate new biological balances where the extended exploitation of land will not bring to drying-out , as it is happening in some areas, but will allow to continue successfully over time the cultivation, maintaining a vital ground.
To approach properly to organic cultivation of any species, it is necessary to have a broad view that goes beyond the cultivated species. We are vine growers and we must take care not only of the vine, but also of everything that is around it. The vineyard is a small ecosystem in which the growth of the vine and its production are closely linked to the characteristics of the soil and its exposure, to the climate and to the very nature of the plant. To arrive to an organic production, the wine-producing ecosystem must keep its balance as much as possible to work at the best. This is the premise to be able to grow without the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
In 2018 Vitalonga Winery will regularly be certified as organic.
