Phi 2009

Each year, as man works in harmony and bonds with the land, a magical process begins. It is this bond which is the starting point for phi.

For centuries the ancient Greek letter phi has been a synonym for beauty and balance. It forms a mysterious code used to depict shells, galaxies and the harmony of nature. It is the first symbol to have seduced, surprised and charmed the researcher and genius which is mankind.

WINE-MAKING
The must is left in contact with the grapes skins for 21 days in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. Remontage is carried out regularly.
MATURATION
The wine is left to settle in French oak barrels, some new, for a period of 15 months where malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is bottled and left to mature for several months before being released on the market.
BLENDT
The phi 2009 is a blend of the highest quality grapes produced at Vitalonga, wrapped around a core of Cabernet Franc.

AS ONE SEASON FLOWS INTO ANOTHER…

The way the climate develops through the various seasons has a critical influence on the quality of the grapes. The 2009 vintage produced grapes of exceptional quality. The mild temperatures experienced in spring coupled with a good amount of rainfall allowed the vines to bud and flower well. These perfect conditions continued into summer and during August the different grape varietals were able to maintain good balance between foliage and fruit allowing the grapes to be exposed to both light and heat. The harvest was not hindered by rainfall making it one of the best in history.

SENSATIONS

Phi is an expression of nature itself:  perfectly balanced notes of black cherry accompanied by a long pleasant finish. This is the land’s message which man has respectfully harvested.

The grape varieties used in this blend combine to make a harmonious wine destined to tell a story and become a standard of enological achievement. Each aroma in phi can be traced back to Vitalonga, each sensation portrays the vines from which this wine was created. On the palate, phi delivers an abundance of elegant fruit, an impressive balance between acidity and sweet notes, and a long finish.
